The Richmond Lions club invites you to the Richmond Club this Saturday, March 18, to catch some of the best touring comics raising money for two fantastic local initiatives.
The Women's Cottage is a community-based support service run by women, for women of the Hawkesbury and their children. They are currently updating their facilities to improve service provision and fitting out new laundry and bathroom areas.
RuffTRACK, meanwhile, engages with young people who have disengaged from school and the community, helping them stay off the streets, out of trouble and prepare for the future. The charity is currently seeking a permanent base, a 'forever farm' to provide education and accommodation in a secure and spacious environment.
To show their support, the Lions Club is hosting 'Comedy for a Cause', featuring comedians from Australia and afar.
Mat Wakefield: Fresh from sold-out shows at the Sydney Comedy Festival and Fringe Festival, one of the rising stars of Australian comedy.
Bruce Griffiths: Previous winner of Triple J's 'Comic of the Year', an ARIA-award winning writer for Good News Week and the Glass House and a gold medalist at the New York Festival Film & TV Awards.
Andrew Barnett: Winner of the ANZ Blue Room Prize and a performer and writer on numerous Fox Sports shows including 'Sunday Nights with Matty Johns' and 'The Professor's Late Hit'.
Tommy Dean: The American who understands Australia, Dean is an instantly recognisable figure, a regular performer at the Sydney and Melbourne Comedy Festivals and a frequent guest on panel shows including 'Spicks and Specks', 'Good News Week' and 'Rove Live'.
