The Ryde-Eastwood Hawks have jumped into second place on the Ron Massey Cup ladder after keeping Glebe scoreless in a dominant display during their Round 3 clash. It’s a result that could prove telling come finals time when points differential may make the difference.

The Top 4 is starting to look clearer as the season progresses, but the Kaiviti Silktails are keeping in touch thanks to an incredible home stand in Fiji. After a slow start to the campaign the Silktails have made the most of their recent fixtures in front of passionate locals, beating Mounties in a thrilling contest that takes their winning streak to four games.

Defending premiers Hills District are also keeping within reach of the leading pack, helped by a dominant win over the hapless Bulldogs, with Kieran Hayman, Sean Garner and Jerry Key all scoring doubles in the 54-22 win. The Bulldogs have won just one game all season, with a points differential on the wrong side of -200.

Meanwhile Penrith Brothers and Wentworthville took each other all the way, unable to be separated after 80 minutes with a thrilling 30-all draw. Magpies fullback Ethyn Martin grabbed a hat-trick.

In the Sydney Shield results followed the form guide, with Cabramatta and Brothers both grabbing big wins over Mounties and Wentworthville respectively. The Hills were tested by lowly Moorebank but still emerged with the win, while Glebe stunned Ryde-Eastwood to arrest their eight-game winless run.
