The Ryde-Eastwood Hawks have secured big wins in both the Ron Massey Cup and Sydney Shield, helping them back into the top four in both competitions.

In the Ron Massey Cup the Hawks eased to victory over the last-placed Bulldogs, led by a double to winger Liam Scolari that lifted them into third place and gave their points differential a handy boost. Meanwhile in Shield they grabbed another big win against Moorebank, which could have been even bigger if not for some goal-kicking troubles.

Meanwhile the Silktails have arrested their own three-game slide with a quality home win over Penrith Brothers, capped off with a field goal to goal-kicking centre Tomasi Seru.

In both competitions the dominant side is still St Marys, and they show no signs of slowing down, continuing their unbeaten run in the Ron Massey cup with a hard-fought win over Mounties. They had an easier time of it in the Shield, with centre Michael Tuavao scoring a hat-trick that brings him to equal first in the try-scoring charts. He’s joined by Emosi Alamoti, who scored his fifth try in his last three games despite Cabramatta’s meek loss to Brothers.

It was a mixed weekend for Glebe, who remain in second place on the Cup ladder thanks to a win over Wentworthville, while the Shield side came agonisingly close to just their second win of the season, securing a 24-all draw that leaves them stuck at the foot of the table.
