With UFC293 in Sydney rapidly approaching, Australian fans have been given cause for excitement after local legend Tyson Pedro confirmed that he'll be taking part in the event on September 10.

Pedro will face off against Swedish fighter Anton Turkalj in what will be his first return to the octagon since UFC284 in Perth back in February.

Though Pedro lost his Western Australian bout with Modestas Bukauskas by unanimous decision, it was later revealed that he had been heavily affected by gastro in the immediate lead-up to the fight, showing remarkable resilience to compete at the level that he did given he spent the entirety of the night before in agony, dealing with the illness. He'll be eager to remind everyone of just how damaging he can be at full strength, especially in front of a true home crowd.

News of Pedro's bout comes just days after it was revealed that Kiwi Carlos Ulberg would also face Korean Da Woon Jung on the card. Meanwhile fellow Western Sydney star Tai Tuivasa is all but confirmed to be taking part in the event.

The headline bout is yet to be announced, but many are expecting it to feature Israel Adesanya - although the chances of a spite-filled match-up against South African fighter Dricus DuPlessis are looking increasingly unlikely, given that Du Plessis' last fight was less than two weeks ago.
