A large number of Mount Druitt residents are currently without power after a fire at a high-voltage transformer near apartment complexes on Carlisle Avenue earlier this morning.

Fire crews were called to the scene and remained after the fire was extinguished due to concerns about heat still emanating from the transformer, but no one was hurt by the blaze despite its proximity to residents, traffic and the nearby train line. Minimal road closures are still in place on the southern side of the rail line.

A significant number of crews from Endeavour Energy are on scene currently, and a technician speaking to Real Sydney News said that it would be some time before the cause could be determined as they hurried to restore power.

According to Endeavour, the outage currently covers at least 12 blocks in the vicinity, with hundreds of customers affected. There is currently no timeline on repairs.
