Blue Mountains and Emu Plains-based brewery Mountain Culture has made local history, claiming top honours at the prestigious Great Australian Beer Spectapular (GABS) Hottest 100 Aussie Craft Beers list with their 'Status Quo' Pale Ale.

In its 15th year, the competition was fierce, with 311 breweries and 2,140 individual beers from across Australia attracting more than 60,000 votes between them.

Based in Katoomba, the business is run by DJ and Harriet McCready - but Real Sydney residents won't have to take the trek to the back of the Blue Mountains to taste the premium drop, with their factory in Emu Plains open every weekend for locals and well-travelled beer lovers alike.

In more good news for locals, Penrith-born surfing legend Mick Fanning's 'Balter Beer' took second place on the podium.

You can visit the Mountain Culture Beer Co at 35 David Rd, Emu Plains.
