A one of a kind musical performance will take place at the Riverside Theatres in Parramatta this weekend, coinciding with the impending arrival of the Perseid Meteor Shower.
Three-piece group 'Meteor Orbit' will perform their largely improvised 'Ephemera: Space Jazz' show on Sunday July 23, merging jazz and classical music to a backdrop of soundscapes and visual imagery from the cosmos. It's a musical exploration of celestial landscapes such as pulsars, craters, planetary atmospheres, stars, sun and the void.
The ensemble features Kenya Wilkins on piano and flute, Elsen Price on the double bass and loop pedal and Will Gilbert on the trumpet, coming from a diverse array of musical backgrounds to create a distinctive sound.
Following the performance, a Q+A about the Meteor Shower will be led by astronomer and ANU lecturer, Professor Paul Francis. Tickets are on sale now.
