Missed chances send finals race down to the wire; NSWRL Wrap

The last spot in the Ron Massey Cup finals will be decided in the final week of the competition, after the Silktails and and Ryde-Eastwood both missed the opportunity to secure wins that would have given them some breathing space on the ladder in the competition's penultimate round.

That means three teams are competing for the final two places. While the Hawks will benefit from a valuable final round bye, the Silktails' two-point defeat to Wentworthville means they'll need to beat the unbeaten minor premiers St Marys if they want to secure a finals berth.

Meanwhile Hills will travel to Brothers knowing that a win will likely be enough to keep their hopes of a premiership defence alive.

In the Sydney Shield, the final five have already been decided, with Ryde's narrow win over the Hills ending the Bulls' hopes of a late finals dash. Glebe's match against St Marys ended in forfeit.
