Hyland Road on Greystanes will become the home of western Sydney's latest state-of-the-art sporting facility after securing funding approval through the NSW Government's WestInvest program.
The project will see unused land on Hyland Road (pictured) converted into an indoor and outdoor facility that will cater to a range of sports, from rugby league and netball to cricket and AFL - even volleyball. It will also feature outdoor fields and cricket nets.
Cumberland Mayor Lisa Lake praised the decision, asserting that the venue will not only provide a boost to the local community, but also help promote the region by hosting statewide and national events and encouraging tourism.
"This is the first of its kind indoor and outdoor sporting facility to be built in Greystanes and it will create a much-needed place for our growing population to play and enjoy a wide variety of sports," Mayor Lake said.
Cumberland Council has advised they will consult the community as planning progresses. This project adds to the $29m already secured by council through the WestInvest program.
