The Log Cabin has returned to its place as one of the Penrith region's most iconic venues, but March 9 will live long in the memory as a tragic anniversary. 2023 marks 11 years since the historic venue burnt to the ground due to an electrical fault, despite the best efforts of emergency crews in attendance.
Thankfully, no one was hurt.
Originally built in 1925 before being extended and renovated into a licensed venue by 1939, the location had become a cornerstone of the community, whether as a venue for wedding receptions and seminars or as a place for locals to come and relax after a long day.
After the fire many questions lingered about the future of the site on the eastern banks of the Nepean River, but thankfully the venue has been restored to its former glory - and then some - as part of the extensive developments taking place around the Nepean River.
What are your favourite memories of the historic venue? And what do you make of the new look and feel?
