A council car park in the heart of Penrith is set for a multi-million dollar upgrade that will turn it into a 'unique destination that blends work, leisure and play.'
The redevelopment of a commuter carpark on Soper Place and Belmore Street will see the current ground-level facilities replaced by a five-storey complex with over 600 parking spots, as well as an adjoining four-level building with abundant commercial and retail spaces.
The development proposal was originally submitted in 2020, and after challenges presented by the uncertainty of Covid, it has finally been given the green light. The 'Soper Place' development will also include a recreational area and basketball court which can be used for sport as well as community functions including markets and concerts.
The facility will also house a rooftop garden and lots of greenery and plants in an effort to battle urban heat, which will be open to the public.
It's the latest in an increasingly long list of exciting developments for the Penrith region.
