Penrith business York Jewellers has made a record $16,192 donation to Nepean Hospital's Neonatal Intensive Care Unit and Children's Ward, all thanks to a novel fundraising campaign.
Earlier this year York offered customers 20% off a range of premium jewellery while also committing $23 from every sale to the hospital. The concept proved a hit, drawing support from the local community and jewellery lovers across the area.
A combination of in-store and online shoppers helped raise the impressive figure, which tops the amount raised by a similar campaign run last year by nearly $4,000. Those funds were used by the hospital to purchase a portable ultrasound machine.
York’s Managing Director Douglas Ely said he was elated to present this year’s sum.
“It’s always impressive to see just how generous the community is here in Penrith,” Ely said.
“We set a high bar last year, and I’m pleased to say we’ve equaled it and then some.
“Since 2021 we’ve contributed $38,598 to the hospital and we’re incredibly proud of this effort.
“So many people here have a story about how the nurses, doctors and other staff at Nepean have touched their lives. It’s good to give back and let them know they’re appreciated.”
York has a proud history of partnering with the Nepean Hospital. Along with continued financial support, they’ve previously awarded their Nurse of the Year and Midwife of the Year diamond and white gold necklaces.
York Jewellers has been serving Penrith for almost 50 years. Their ‘202X Giveback’ concept originated in 2021, and each successive year has built upon the previous’ total. 2021’s campaign raised $9,933, 2022’s raised $12,473, and 2023’s has raised $16,192. All funds are donated directly to the Nepean Hospital.
