With the growth of western Sydney relentlessly picking up steam, a stunning development has been proposed that will see the Sydney International Regatta Centre transformed into a state of the art natural space called ‘Western Sydney Lakes’.
Set across 2000 hectares at the foot of the Blue Mountains, the project has allocated 330 hectares for urban redevelopment that will significantly increase employment opportunities and provide a boost to local tourism.
But while development is important, much consideration has also been given to preserving the natural environment, with hundreds of hectares allocated to wetlands and parkland spaces.
Among the abundant natural spaces, the development proposal also includes:
💡 Southbank: a high-end retail precinct.
🏌️ An 18-hole golf course.
🎬 A 29-hectare production precinct for the film and television industry.
🏢 Resorts and hotels.
🌊 A wave park and other water-based recreation.
🍔 Restaurants, bars and other dining options.
🏊 Beaches, an aquatic centre and a lakeside pool.
🎤 Entertainment venues and function centres.
As well as the retail and recreational precincts, the Western Sydney Lakes development will also house a number of industries and specialised areas, including shared office workspaces, creative industries and commercial office spaces.
The development will also house Aerospace and Defence industries, a state-of-the-art science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) precinct, as well as solar farms, schools, manufacturing and agriculture spaces + plenty more.
The changes are already underway, with the Sydney Aerospace Park and Nepean Business Park currently in development.
