Rock Off: Pumpkins promoter pulls plug on Nepean date

Rock music fans in western Sydney have been dealt a cruel blow one month after The Smashing Pumpkins announced their 'World Is A Vampire' tour would be heading to the Nepean Aerospace Park, with concert promoter One World Entertainment informing fans that the gig would no longer be going ahead due to 'circumstances out of our control'.
Though the promoter advises refunds can be 'requested', ticketholders for the Penrith show are now being directed to attend the performance at the Horden Pavilion in Moore Park. But while the Nepean show was originally scheduled for a weekend date, both inner city performances take place on weekdays at 4pm - an unenviable commute that adds up to an extra hour to each end of the event and makes attendance far less practical for those from western Sydney.
The second Sydney show was only announced after the cancellation of the Penrith and Wollongong dates of the tour, made available 'due to overwhelming demand' according to One World Entertainment.
There are likely to be ongoing concerns from Nepean concertgoers until the refunds are actually paid, with the promoter examined by Fair Trading as recently as last year after numerous complaints were made regarding the lack of refund available for the 'Under the Southern Stars' festival in the Hunter Valley.
Repeatedly impacted by COVID lockdowns and other logistical issues, the promoter drew significant ire from punters after maintaining a 'like-for-like' ticket swap stance - similar to the current situation - and avoiding refunds despite years-long delays. In fact, some previous holders have now been offered tickets to the Smashing Pumpkins tour instead - with the Newcastle show now taking place on the original date of the Nepean performance.
Western Sydney ticket holders much lodge their refund requests before midnight on March 24.
