The St Marys Saints have bounced back from the shock of their first defeat all season to hammer the Glebe Dirty Reds with a resounding 52-0 win in the penultimate game of the year at HE Laybutt Field.
Led by two tries to winger Jake Tago, the Saints opened the scoring in the first 10 minutes and never relented, running in nine tries to none in a relentless, dominant display, further enhanced by a near-perfect eight from nine conversion attempts for Zac Greene.
The Saints will now get the chance to exact revenge on the Magpies in next week's Grand Final after the Magpies caused a boilover in their semi-final meeting.
In the Sydney Shield, Penrith Brothers were left to rue a slow start after their comeback arrived too late against Hills Bulls. The Bulls jumped to a a handy first-half lead and looked to have put the result beyond doubt with their fourth unanswered try early in the second half, but Brothers awoke with 15 minutes left and nearly stole the result, with three tries in nine minutes bringing them within four points of a miraculous comeback. Sadly, it wasn't to be - with the Bulls now primed to take on minor premiers St Marys in the Shield final.
Both games will be played next Sunday at Jubilee Oval in Kogarah.
