Truck fire at Claremont Meadows causes detours and delays

There are significant traffic delays and detours in place in Claremont Meadows after a garbage truck caught fire near the intersection of Gipps Street and the Great Western Highway in Claremont Meadows this afternoon.

RFS crew members have been working tirelessly at the scene. While the burnt-out vehicle has since been moved to the back of a heavy tow, it's still likely to be some time before the intersection is reopened.

All cars heading towards the Highway from Gipps Street are currently being diverted down Sunflower Drive, re-emerging on the Highway at O'Connell Street.
