The final construction package is now underway on the Western Sydney Nancy Bird-Walton International Airport, with over 26,000,000 cubic metres of earth moved to make way for the next stage, which includes the development of transport hubs and connection to the new M12 Motorway.
The latest package will create seamless passenger exit and entry points, integrating cars, buses and rail transport facilities.
The Landside Precinct involves the construction of carparks, roads, bridges, utilities and landscaping, and will be undertaken by the Aerowest Joint Venture. There will be 4,000 parking spaces created, with dozens of charging outlets for electric vehicles.
Crucially, the final package will also see the development of the M12 Motorway Connection, as well as the completion of the metro line and new metro stations in St Marys, Orchard Hills and Luddenham - as well as multiple stops in the Aerotropolis itself.
“This construction package connects Australia’s best airport terminal to a major new motorway and Sydney’s rail network delivering fast, reliable journeys from start to finish." said Airport CEO Simon Hickey.
The latest announcement means that all major building projects are now underway at the airport site, which remains on track to open to international, domestic and cargo services in late 2026, with 24-hour operation and an expected 10 million travellers per year.
